このサイトは猫を描いた日本の女流画家、柏木治子（かしわぎはるこ 1908-1989）の生涯と業績を世界中の芸術を愛する人々に知らせるために制作されました。
柏木治子は高名な日本画家、河野楳嶺（こうのばいれい1844-1895）を母方の祖父に持ち、1908年、京都に生まれました。幼少時より絵を描くことが何より好きだった治子は早い時期に画家になることを決意します。東京の川端画学校で絵の勉強をした後、治子は油絵の制作活動を本格的に開始します。そして年2回の展覧会に作品を発表しながら「猫を描く画家」としての評価を徐々に高めていきます。治子は1989年12月に81歳で突然この世を去る日まで、自らの芸術世界を完成させるために自らの全てを絵を描くことに捧げました。
このサイトでは柏木治子の芸術への情熱、傑作を生み出そうとする飽くなき探究心、モデルとなった猫たちとの微笑ましい日常生活を、生前、治子が書き残した何枚かのメモやスナップ写真とともに紹介します。深い色彩と巧妙な筆使いで猫たちをモデルにした傑作を残した柏木治子の世界をご堪能ください。
This site was created to inform art lovers around the world about the life and achievements of Kashiwagi Haruko (1908-1989), a Japanese female artist known for painting cats.
Kashiwagi Haruko was born in Kyoto in 1908 and was the maternal granddaughter of the famous Japanese painter Kono Bairei (1844-1895).
From a young age, Haruko, who loved drawing more than anything else, decided to become a painter at an early age. After studying painting at the Kawabata Art School in Tokyo, she started her full-fledged production of oil paintings. She gradually gained recognition as a “cat painter” by exhibiting her works at biannual exhibitions. Until her sudden passing at the age of 81 in December 1989, Haruko devoted all of herself to painting in order to complete her artistic world.
On this site, we introduce Kashiwagi Haruko’s passion for art, her relentless spirit of exploration in creating masterpieces, and the delightful daily life with the cats that served as models, along with some notes and snapshots left by Haruko during her lifetime.
