私の絵は多分、70パーセントの人には好かれないことでしょう。自分の描きたいと思う方針が大多数のひとの好みとは違うのです。
これで永年損をしてきたけれど、それでも、貫き通した今では、やっと良さを認めてくれる人も出てきました。
それには 50 年という気の遠くなるような年月が必要でした。10年や20年ではないのです。
My art will probably not be liked by about 70 percent of people. The direction I want to draw is different from the preferences of the majority. I have suffered losses for many years because of this, but even so, now that I have persisted, there are finally people who recognize its value. It took an astonishingly long time of 50 years; it is not just 10 or 20 years.
